Writing is often the most challenging skill for learners to ‘learn’ and for teachers to ‘teach’. How can we transform our classrooms into dynamic spaces where students feel inspired and motivated to engage in writing tasks? In this session we will look at what writing involves and examine how teachers can support primary learners throughout the writing process, helping them build both skill and confidence in their writing.
A series of fast-paced and mind-provoking presentations in the lightning format on current topics from the world of the latest trends in education at home and abroad.

Writing can be one of the most challenging skills for students to master and for teachers to teach effectively. How can we transform our classrooms into vibrant spaces that excite and inspire students to engage in writing tasks? How can we boost learners' confidence and ultimately develop their writing abilities? In this session, we will try to answer these questions and empower teachers to better support students in honing their writing skills. We will also refer to Prepare 2nd Edition and see how its content aids in accomplishing this goal.
In this presentation we will investigate two questions: why speaking is an important language skill, and what common features exist in spoken language (both inside and outside the classroom). As Sari Luoma (2004) writes, “Speaking in a foreign language is very difficult and competence in speaking takes a long time to develop.” So, we will examine various speaking activities from Cambridge materials and consider if they are skills or language-based and then consider what the main aims of speaking activities should be. We will also have the opportunity to think about spoken interaction strategies which can be used to fulfil various functions.
